Verifying and Challenging AI Output

An AI-generated answer may appear complete and convincing even when it contains errors, omissions or unsupported claims. This practical course develops the habits needed to assess an output before relying on it. Participants will examine what the response says, what it leaves out and which points need checking against reliable sources.

Course objectives:

    • Distinguish a plausible response from one that is supported by reliable evidence
    • Identify factual errors, invented authorities, weak assumptions, omissions and inappropriate certainty
    • Prioritise checks according to the significance of the point and the consequences of an error
    • Verify material propositions against primary sources and the underlying documents
    • Record and communicate the limits of what has been checked and escalate unresolved concerns
