Becoming a Trusted Advisor to Your Clients
in an AI-enabled firm
Clients may use many suppliers, but only some become advisors they involve when making wider strategic decisions. This course helps participants understand the role and practices of a trusted advisor, assess where they stand in their client relationships and identify what would help those relationships develop.
Participants will explore the benefits of trusted advisor status for themselves and their firm, as well as the obstacles that can prevent them from achieving it. They will create a practical path towards deeper client involvement. The course considers how AI can support preparation: for example, by helping to organise sector information, explore developments affecting a client and identify questions worth pursuing. Participants will look at turning that preparation into relevant conversations and insight, rather than relying on generic information about the client.
Course objectives:
- Recognise the role and practices of a trusted advisor and assess your current client relationships.
- Understand the benefits of trusted advisor relationships for clients, yourself and your firm.
- Identify obstacles to gaining trusted advisor status and ways to address them.
- Use AI appropriately to support client and sector preparation, checking findings against reliable sources and what you know about the client.
- Ask questions and offer insight that demonstrate an understanding of the client’s wider priorities.
- Create a practical plan for developing a stronger trusted adviser relationship with a client.
